Illness
If your child’s illness needs a long period of care, you are asked to discuss this with the Headteacher and not the class teacher. All parents will be asked to complete a medical information form on admission and requested to notify the school of any changes.
Children who suffer from asthma need their inhalers in school and on school visits. Parents are asked to label inhalers with their child’s name along with any necessary instructions.
Should your child have an accident, we are only allowed to administer simple first aid. More serious problems have to be dealt with by your GP.
The school doctor and nurse visit school regularly. Medical examinations are by appointment and parents will be informed and invited to be present. At different stages children will have routine checks such as audiology and vision tests. Where they are more than routine, parents will be informed.
Appointments can be arranged with the school doctor at the request of parents through the Headteacher or school office. Please try to give us advance notice for visits to doctors or dentists. Please also let us know if the visit affects your child’s lunchtime arrangements.
