General Information
We welcome all children to our school and endeavour to assist them through a caring and supportive environment, to gain a good standard of education as well as acquiring and developing life skills.
The Aims of the School
General Care of Children
All staff and governors of the school aim for children’s happiness and physical well being. Staff fosters a feeling of trust and takes a genuine interest in each child. Discipline is firm yet fair, enabling all children to take pride in themselves, their school and their local environment. At the same time, coming to school should be fun and a place where lasting friendships are made with adults and other children.
Equal Opportunity
Each child has a right to equal access to all aspects of school life and the variety and diversity which different genders, ethnic origins, disabilities, faiths and cultures provide. All parents have the right to be respected and their views listened to and to receive a response.
Curriculum
By the time children move on to secondary school, they will have been given the opportunity to fulfil their potential in expressing themselves; seeing patterns and relationships; observing closely; investigating; applying their learning in real situations; being sensitive and having respect for themselves, others and their surroundings. All these things are relevant to each area of the curriculum. The subjects taught are in line with the National Curriculum although children learn other things as well, including aspects of Christian and other World Faiths through religious education. The curriculum acknowledges the technological world in which we all find ourselves. Assessment is ongoing by school staff and standard tasks and tests are applied at the end of both Key Stages 1 and 2.
Standards
To ensure that all pupils are achieving to their highest potential and ensure that the school’s overall results are at least in line with national averages.
Organisation
We aim to provide an organisation in which children experience a practical and interesting balance of skills and knowledge. Some aspects of each subject are taught through a cross curricular approach whilst others are taught in a specific way. We use a balance of whole class, group and individual teaching methods to encourage independence and a positive attitude to learning. We work hard to ensure that all children are fully included by providing them with differentiated learning opportunities.
